Clean Food Production Using Biological Fertilizers and Pesticides
Australian scientists were asked to come up with green alternatives to chemicals used in grain production with funding from farmer levies and federal tax dollars. However, new products with real potential were not reaching farmers because of lack of manufacturing expertise in Australia.
Greg Bender was brought in to coordinate the research, to identify a clear path to market, and to locate manufacturers with the resources and expertise needed to bring new products to farmers.
An international open tender process located a small specialised manufacturing business in Canada. Following negotiations and detailed strategic planning a subsidiary of the business was established in Adelaide. This business now provides a path-to-market for new biological alternatives to fertilizers and pesticides arising from Australian research efforts.
